- Southern Nevada Dental Society is the local component of the Nevada Dental Association and the American Dental Association Southern Nevada Dental Society currently has over 600 member dentists
- Approximately 80% of dentists statewide belong to the Nevada Dental Association, the national average is about 70%.
- Dentists are not required to belong to the American Dental Association, the Nevada Dental Association, nor the Southern Nevada Dental Society to be licensed.
- Member dentists must adhere to a code of ethics beyond that required by the state.
- The Southern Nevada Dental Society was founded as the Clark County Dental Association in 1947. The change to Southern Nevada Dental Society was made to be more inclusive and provide support and representation to dentists throughout southern Nevada.
- The Southern Nevada Dental Society provides member dentists with Continuing Education seminars, a Peer Review process, representation at state and national levels, and regular meetings.
- The Southern Nevada Dental Society has teamed with Great Basin Primary Health Care Association to implement the 1 Day A Year (1DAY) Program. This program works with local agencies, such as Clinic On Wheels, to bring member dentists who have volunteered their time and talent together with children who have no access to oral health care. The program is funded jointly by Great Basin and SNDS, and is operated out of the SNDS office.
- “We are very pleased to be bringing the 1DAY program to Southern Nevada. Our member dentists have always been very generous with their time, but now for the first time we’ll have a consistent, coordinated effort,” said Richard E. Kohlmeyer, DDS, President of the Southern Nevada Dental Society.
