THE SOUTHERN NEVADA DENTAL SOCIETY WOULD LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2017-2018 MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
We know this is an exciting and stressful time of your life right now. As a fourth year dental student you are ONLY thinking about getting through your competencies and board exams. Many of you may also be wondering and worrying about what comes after school. How do I find a job that fits me? Do I want to open my own practice, become an Associate or work in Corporate Dentistry? There are so many questions you may have and feel you don’t have the answers to.
The Southern Nevada Dental Society is organizing a Mentorship Program with UNLV School of Dental Medicine to help fourth year dental students as well as recent graduates of UNLV School of Dental Medicine make that transition from “STUDENT to PROFESSIONAL”. We all know that things are quite different once out of school and in the “Real World”.
Our goal for this Mentor Program
The mentor program enables dental students and new graduates to obtain counsel and guidance with some of the concerns involved in beginning a dental career. The Mentor Program is geared towards integrating the dentists of tomorrow with the dental community.
How will the program work?
A practicing dentist who has at least 5 years’ experience is initially paired with a fourth year dental student or a recent graduate of 1 year. This mentor/mentee relationship is then cultivated and grown throughout the year. The program year will be kicked off with at our Annual Community Night or function where new mentors and mentees will meet up and welcomed into the program. From there, the mentors and mentees define where they want the relationship to go. Several organized social functions/opportunities will be offered throughout the year.
